About Phoenix Psychotherapy

Phoenix Psychotherapy is a place of renewal, transformation and compassionate inquiry. Founded on the principle that healing is a deeply individual and holistic process, Phoenix Psychotherapy offers integrative therapy that honours the complexity of the human experience. Here, therapy is not a one-size-fits-all solution, but a collaborative, evolving process rooted in connection, embodiment and inner wisdom.

Who I Am

My name is Jen, I am a fully qualified integrative psychotherapist and registered member of both the BACP and NCPS. Before training formally in psychotherapy, I spent two decades working as an alternative therapist, supporting people through various life transitions and emotional challenges. This time has taught me that healing doesn’t follow a linear path and it rarely exists solely in the mind. It’s in the body, in our breath, in the nervous system, in the stories we carry and in the places we’ve learned to avoid. This foundation now deeply informs my work as a psychotherapist. I integrate traditional talk therapy with body-based and mindfulness practices, supporting my clients not just in managing symptoms, but in fostering resilience, insight and a more embodied sense of self.

About Phoenix Psychotherapy

My Approach: Integrative and Holistic

The therapeutic space I offer is collaborative, adaptive, and responsive to your individual needs. As an integrative therapist, I draw on a range of psychological and somatic approaches, which might include elements of:

  • Humanistic and person-centred therapy, which honours your autonomy, your pace, and your capacity for growth and self-direction.

  • CBT therapy - providing practical solutions based on your specific needs, changing behaviours and patterns of thought.

  • Reframing - Exploring perceptions of self, others and experiences and reframing limiting or damaging beliefs.

  • Gestalt therapy - a holistic, experiential approach that focuses on present-moment awareness and personal responsibility, helping clients understand how they relate to themselves, others, and their environment.

  • Psychodynamic therapy, which explores unconscious patterns, past experiences, and relationships that may be influencing your present.

  • Mindfulness-based practices, which help cultivate awareness, self-compassion, and present-moment grounding.

  • Breathwork, which supports nervous system regulation and emotional release through intentional, guided breathing techniques.

  • Somatic therapy, which brings the body into the healing process — tuning into sensation, posture, and movement as ways to access and process emotion.

  • Vagus nerve stimulation techniques, which help regulate stress responses, promote a sense of safety, and support trauma recovery by working directly with the nervous system.

This integrative model allows us to work on multiple levels — cognitive, emotional, physiological, and spiritual — supporting deeper, more sustainable change.

The Phoenix Ethos: Transformation Through Compassion

The image of the phoenix  rising from the ashes  beautifully captures the essence of this work. Therapy can be a place where pain, confusion, or disconnection become catalysts for growth, transformation and meaning. You may arrive feeling burnt out, stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain but within you, the capacity for renewal is always present.

My therapeutic ethos is underpinned by a deep respect for your inner wisdom. I believe that:

  • Healing begins in relationship. The therapeutic relationship is central, a safe, non-judgemental space where you feel seen, heard and met exactly as you are.

  • The body holds the story. Many of the issues we face  from anxiety to trauma to long-standing patterns are held not just in the mind, but in the nervous system. Reconnecting with the body opens powerful pathways to healing.

  • You are not broken. My role is not to fix you, but to walk alongside you as you rediscover the parts of yourself that have been silenced, disconnected, or overwhelmed.

  • Therapy is sacred work. This work is confidential, ethical and grounded in mutual respect. I approach each client with reverence for their life story and personal truth.

Ethical Practice

As a practitioner, I am committed to the highest standards of professional ethics and integrity. I work in line with established psychotherapy codes of practice from both the BACP and NCPS, ensuring confidentiality, clear boundaries, and ongoing professional development. I engage in regular clinical supervision to reflect on and strengthen my work and I continue to explore new approaches to deepen my understanding of trauma, neurobiology, attachment and integrative health.

I am inclusive in my practice, welcoming people from all walks of life in a safe, affirming space for people of all sexualities, gender identities and expressions. Everyone is welcome.

Whether you are seeking therapy for anxiety, grief, stress, relational issues, trauma, or simply a space to explore your inner world, I offer a grounded, compassionate presence to support you.

Why Choose Integrative Therapy

Why Choose Integrative Psychotherapy?

It can help with

Anxiety

Integrative therapy helps reduce anxiety by working with both the mind and body. Together we explore the thoughts, behaviours and deeper emotional patterns that may be fuelling anxious feelings, while also using grounding techniques such as breath-work and somatic practices to regulate the nervous system. This dual approach not only eases symptoms but supports you in building long-term resilience and a deeper sense of internal calm.

Depression

When working with depression, integrative therapy offers a compassionate space to uncover the root causes of low mood, disconnection, or numbness. Combining talk therapy with body-based practices, we'll address not just the thoughts and emotions, but the physical states that often accompany depression. By reconnecting with your body and inner world, therapy can help reignite hope, self-worth and a sense of purpose.

Trauma

Trauma lives in both the mind and the body, which is why an integrative approach is essential for healing. Rather than retelling traumatic events, we'll gently engage with the nervous system using somatic techniques, breath-work and vagus nerve regulation. Therapy helps to rebuild safety, reconnect with your body and process experiences in a way that supports long-term healing without overwhelm.

Self-Exploration & Personal Development

You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Integrative therapy can be a powerful space for self-discovery, helping you explore who you are beyond old roles, habits, or expectations. Through reflective dialogue, mindfulness, and body-based awareness, we support deeper self-connection, creativity, and growth, allowing your authentic self to emerge with greater confidence and clarity.

Relationships

Relationships can mirror our inner world, our needs, fears and attachment patterns. Integrative therapy helps you understand and shift unhelpful dynamics by exploring relational patterns, communication styles and emotional triggers. We'll also work with embodied awareness to understand how your body responds in relationships, helping you develop healthier boundaries, connection and self-expression.

Stress

Chronic stress can leave you feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. Integrative therapy provides practical and holistic tools to manage stress in the moment, such as mindfulness, breath-work and vagus nerve techniques, while also exploring the underlying pressures or life patterns that contribute to it. Together, we find ways to restore balance, clarity and emotional steadiness in your day-to-day life.

Life Changes & Transitions

Whether it’s a career shift, relationship change, relocation, or entering a new phase of life, transitions often bring both uncertainty and opportunity. Integrative therapy supports you in navigating these changes with greater clarity and emotional stability. By working with both thought patterns and bodily responses, I'll help you move forward with confidence and intention.

Grief & Loss

Grief is a deeply personal journey that affects every part of our being. Integrative therapy honours this by creating a safe, compassionate space where you can move through the emotional landscape of loss at your own pace. Using a mix of talking, embodied presence, and reflective practices to help you process the pain while gently reconnecting with meaning and life beyond grief.

Life Challenges

Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, confusing, or simply too much. Whether you’re facing multiple challenges at once or a general sense of struggle, integrative therapy offers a grounding and adaptive space to make sense of it all. I draw on different approaches to support you where you are emotionally, mentally and physically helping you reconnect with strength, clarity and possibility.
